Have you ever wanted to be able to realistically draw what you see? In this class you will get the opportunity to learn about drawing objects from a three-dimensional space and transfer them onto a two-dimensional drawing plane. Students will have the opportunity to learn key tools that will help them to create an interesting and dynamic composition. There will also be time to experiment with the different materials offered within the charcoal medium and the ways in which they can be applied. We will end the class with a pop-up gallery and discussion to further enhance student’s ability to talk about their work, share it with others, and think critically about art.

Kayla (Wyszynski) Ridley is a fine artist and muralist based in South Haven, Michigan. She graduated from South Haven High School in 2010 with a portfolio scholarship to Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. She obtained her BFA in Illustration from Kendall in 2014. She has since returned to her hometown to pursue her career as a freelance artist in our community, under her business name, Kayski Creations. Kayla’s work largely centers around creating public art in collaboration with municipalities, non-profit organizations, and local business in the hopes of creating art that is accessible and inclusive to all. She also creates smaller scale commissions and her own body of work in her home studio in South Haven. Kayla strives to enrich the lives of others and herself through her art.
