Learn how traditional colored pencil (not water-soluble) can be used to: establish an under drawing, adjust both light and dark values, and add rich textures. In short, the addition of colored pencil can give your watercolor paintings a dynamic 'Pop' that they lacked before. These are excellent techniques for photorealists or illlustrators. Some experience with watercolor and/or drawing recommended.
David Baker a little bio
David Baker is a visual artist who specializes in poetic landscape painting, much of it done en plein air. His studio pieces are often reinterpretations of paintings done outdoors. His principal media are watercolor, oil, and charcoal. His subjects are magical discoveries made while walking the landscape near Lake Michigan and, in particular, the campus of Ox-Bow. Frequently these paintings will suggest an ongoing series of pictures. David is a lifelong artist/teacher. He recently retired as art professor Emeritus from Southwestern Michigan College. He still teaches a bit at Ox-Bow School of Art and at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.
