Ages 9-12

Tuesdays, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15

1:00-2:00pm

Members $15 per-session, non-members $20 per-session

Member all sessions $75, non-members all sessions $105

Take a creative journey into the world of art! Students will learn about diverse artists and artwork from

around the world and through time. Pick and choose which weeks to attend or sign up for all six!

July 11: Found Object Faces— From African Tribal Masks to Outsider Art, faces are a source of

inspiration. Use a variety of re-purposed items, paint, feathers and more to create these 3-D fun art faces.

July 18: Animals! Realistic and Abstract— Learn some tips for drawing realistically and then have fun

UNDOING the realism by playing an abstraction game! Learn about other abstract artists like Picasso and

Klee.

July 25: Painting Abstract Animals— Students who joined on July 18 will be able to paint their drawings.

If not, those joining for this session will be able to jump right into painting!

August 1: Simple Stencils— Learn about cutting a variety of materials for creating your own stencils and

then use several techniques for printing with them.

August 8: Fabric Collage— Fabric and simple stitching can add texture to collage. Inspired by artists like

Faith Ringgold and Romare Bearden (and others), explore the possibilities of working with textiles in art!

August 15: Inspired by East Asian Brushwork— Be inspired by Chinese and Japanese ink painting and

learn some traditional techniques to explore, observe, and paint a variety of subjects.
