Wonders of the Woven World

December 18, 2009 - January 17, 2010

Opening Reception - December 18, 5-7pm

Explore with us the application of fiber and textile as an art form using traditional and non-traditional design.  The exhibit features sculpture, wearable art, tapestry, and art quilts as the form for the beauty and functionality of the medium.  Wonders of the Woven World features the works of Anna Campbell, Geary Jones, Ann Keister, John Koch and Leslie Riley with Jacqueline Skarritt, Midge Lewis, Aron Lowe and Sherry Konya.  The curator for this exhibit is Sarah Hess, program coordinator at the South Haven Center for the Arts.  The majority of the works on display for this exhibit are for sale. 

 

Regional Juried Art Exhibit

January 22 - February 20

Opening Reception - January 22, 5-7pm

This exhibit will include juried works from nine counties and will offer a $500 first prize.  Jurors for the exhibit are Paul Flickinger from Western Michigan University Gwen Frostic School of Art, Bill Mayer from Hope College and Brenda Sipe of Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris State University.  Select pieces during this exhibit are for sale.

 

Building Blocks Area Elementary School Exhibit

February 26 - March 27

Opening Reception - February 27, 1-4pm

Building Blocks is an annual exhibit that showcases the artistic talents of the area elementary schools.  The exhibit fills both galleries with vibrant colors of children's imagination and is put together and hung by the area elementary art teachers.  This exhibit is a part of the South Haven Center for the Arts' community outreach program to enhance the experience of the arts for school age children in our area.

 

Artists in Transition Area High Shool Exhibit

April 2 - May 1

Opening Reception - Sunday April 18, 1-4pm

Artist in Transition is an exhibit the middle school and high school area art students look forward to every year.  It is a chance to see their works hung professionally in a gallery setting.  It is also a juried show where the students not only gain recognition for their work, but also receive a prize.  This exhibit is a part of the South Haven Center for the Arts' community outreach program aimed to enhance the experience of the arts for school age children in our area.   

 

Annual Members' Show - "Reflections"

May 7 - June 20

Opening Reception - May 7, 5-7pm

The South Haven Center for the Arts' Member Show is an exhibit that highlights the talent of our membership.  All members are encouraged to participate in this exhibit and it is one and it is one of the most anticipated exhibits of the year.  Each year the Members' Show is assigned a theme that challenges and inspires our members in preparation for the exhibit.  The majority of the works on display for this exhibit are for sale.

 

Skins to Rims

June 25 - Aug 8

Opening Reception - June 25, 5-7pm

To kick off an exciting summer we are hosting an exhibit that will have you wheeling from human body art to auto and cycle body art just in time for the hot summer cruising season.  The curators for this exhibt are Jan Weren and Sarah Hess.  Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the coming months.
